 The action of the play takes place in the living room of the Condomine's house in Kent.  Charles Condomine, a writer, is quite happily living with his second wife Ruth.  His first wife, Elvira, has been dead for seven years.  In order to collect material for his latest book, he invites a psychic, Madame Arcati, to hold a séance in his house.  The result is the return of Elvira from ''the other side'', visible and audible only to Charles.  She is determined to get him to herself for eternity and in the process she creates mayhem, Come and see how for yourself.
