Theatr Fach (Dolgellau Amateur Dramatic Society) was brought in to existence over twenty five years ago, with the aim of bringing live theatre to Dolgellau and the surrounding area. Over the years, the Society has grown and changed but has held true to the principal of serving the community whilst giving pleasure to the membership through the performing arts

The acquisition of the building in Glyndwr Street was an achievement of which we are justifiably proud. A grant from the National Lottery and a loan from the Foundation for Sport and the Arts, enabled the Society to add an extension to the existing building thus giving us more back stage facilities and a club room which is available for committee meetings and less formal gatherings, as well as being the place where patrons can enjoy refreshments during intervals in performances.
Throughout the year, the company presents plays, poetry and prose readings and hosts professional theatre companies and live music. Not forgetting the big production of the year, the annual pantomime.

Plans for the future include more of our own productions. To this end it was agreed that the post of artistic director should be created, someone who could take overall charge of what happens in the theatre as far as productions are concerned. We are also trying to organize a one act play competition and we have extended the Poetry and Prose evenings to an all year format, something which has greatly increased our audience numbers.

We are aiming for at least one play performed by members of the society, the Summer Show and the Pantomime and twelve poetry and prose evenings usually held on the third Friday of the month. Depending on the interest shown, Summer Workshops which would cover acting, directing, lighting and sound and writing might be on offer in 2007.
Theatr Fach (Dolgellau Amateur Dramatic Society) is a registered charity and exists financially, largely on membership fees and donations and on the generous grants from various Council and charitable bodies . We work very hard to achieve our main aim of bringing live entertainment to the community and deserve support.
