Sound
as well as lighting is a very important part of any production so
I have installed a five speaker system fed by a Yamaha amplifier
into four Goodmans speakers plus a Yamaha bass amplified
speaker.
We have a 12 way Spirit Folio Mixer Board and a Sony five way
CD player and 2 audio tape decks.
2 microphone sockets are provided
on stage plus an additional microphone on the technicians gallery
for announcements etc. There is also a sound reinforcement mic
over the stage plus a mic which can be fixed to speakers in the
dressing room and club room. Communications between
the technicians
gallery and backstage is via Maxon radio mic headsets.
The
above system is adequate for our needs but additional or improved
equipment could be added when funds become available.
The
operating of the above and setting up the lighting etc can be very
interesting and every production is different. In fact situations
can change during rehearsals so the operator has to
be flexible and patient which is all part of being a
member of an amateur dramatic society.
So
a casual request 13 years ago has now become an interesting and
I hope worthwhile hobby. So any body who is interested in theatre,
get involved. You won't regret it.
